Answers to FAQ on BOL Questions and freight shipping

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Our Roadway Customer Care Teams get many questions day-to-day about the workings of our website and freight shipping.

The questions and answers below address some of the most frequently asked questions about our bill of lading (BOL) tool.

Q: The products I want to ship aren’t in the product drop-down. How do I add them?
A: Click the “Add New Commodity” button in the commodities section of the BOL. A new line appears with a free-form-text description box. Complete your product information, then click the box at the far left of the line in the “Save” column. Your new product will appear in the drop-down box after you have submitted your BOL. If you don’t want to save the product to your drop-down, don’t check the “Save” box.

Q: How do I remove products from my product drop-down menu?
A: Contact Tech Support Help (see the tab under the menu bar at the upper-right of every page on our site for contact information). They will remove products for you.

Plan long trips carefully

BE PREPARED.
Be ready for what you may encounter. You may say this is common sense, and it is. But how many of us jump in our vehicle when the weather looks nice and end up in an ice or snow storm?

Some good suggestions to be prepared for winter driving–the basics–like wearing proper clothing (loose layers, extra gloves, rain gear); keeping a flashlight in the glove box; a blanket, food/water on hand; a bag of sand/salt and extra washer fluid; a windshield scraper; jumper cables.
Try to have at least a half of a tank of gas during the winter season–just in case.
Plan long trips carefully, keep in mind what kind of weather conditions you may encounter.

Achieved a safety milestone no other Roadway driver has accomplished

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Roadway freight shipping driver Alphonso Lewis, 2007 National Grand Champion of the National Truck Driving Championships, and YRC Worldwide, Inc. executives rang the NASDAQ Stock Market Opening Bell on Friday, November 23.

Alphonso, a driver account specialist from our Montgomery, AL, service center, achieved a safety milestone no other Roadway driver has accomplished in our 77-year history–the Grand Championship of the 2007 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC). The title of “Grand Champion”–the highest honor given–is an extraordinary accomplishment.

When asked what winning the Grand Championship meant to him, Alphonso admitted it was difficult to describe: “It’s overwhelming, but it feels great. I thought I was already at the top when I won first place in 4-axle. Now I’m on top of the world!”
